Introduction: Tre Cime di Lavaredo are 3 famous peaks in the Dolomites mountain range in northeastern Italy. Their unique shape and accessible surrounding trails have made them very popular.

Key Facts: Tre Cime di Lavaredo, also known as Drei Zinnen, is part of the Sexten Dolomites in the Eastern Alps. The highest peak is close to 10,000 ft. The famous scenic trail around the 3 peaks starts at Rifugio Auronzo with access to parking and tourist facilities from Spring to Fall.

Summary: Tre Cime is about 2.5 hours drive from Bolzano or Venice. Public transport via Train/Bus from Bolzano takes about 3.5 hours. Park entry costs around 40 Euro daily for unlimited entry. The trail includes 2 main visitor stops at Rifugio Auronzo and Rifugio Lavaredo. Additional attractions include lake Misurina at the base of the mountain and the scenic drive to nearby Cortina di Ampezzo through the Dolomites.

Get Around

Driving: The most flexible way to reach Tre Cime is by car. From Bolzano, you can take the A22 highway and then follow the SS49 and SS51. During the summer months, there’s an entrance fee to access the road leading to the Rifugio Auronzo, a hut near the base of the peaks. Do note that during peak times, parking can be challenging. Ensure you arrive early or consider visiting during shoulder seasons.

Public Transportation: During the summer, there are buses that take you from nearby towns like Dobbiaco/Toblach to Rifugio Auronzo. However, these might be less frequent, so it’s essential to check the schedule ahead of time.
