Poschiavo is a scenic town in the Bernina region of Switzerland. It’s a popular tourist stop on the famous “Bernina Express” scenic railway line in between St. Moritz and Tirano, Italy.
In addition to the train, Poschiavo’s only direct connection to rest of Switzerland is over the Bernina Pass. The town is connected by the Hauptstrasse 29 road over the pass that offers a gorgeous view of the Bernina glacier and the winding down valley from Pontresina down to Poschiavo.
Casa Tomé is the Poschiavo town museum, an excellent example of the traditional architecture of the Val Poschiavo. Built during the Middle Ages as a tower, it has maintained its current structure since 1450. The Mulino di Aino is a working museum that shows how flour was produced from grain, boards from timber and horseshoes from iron. The baroque Palazzo De Bassus-Mengotti was built in 1655. The Palazzo Dorizzi houses pieces collected in India during 1947–57.
