Innsbruck is the capital of Tyrol and the fifth-largest city in Austria.

The city is at the crossroads of a few major highways connecting Austria and Italy on the east to Switzerland and Germany on the west. It is also near the Italy-Austria border for northbound traffic coming from South Tyrol, Italy heading to Tyrol in Austria or Bavaria, Germany..

Innsbruck is also situated by the River Inn, at its junction with the Wipp Valley which provides access to the famous Brenner Pass 30 km (19 mi) to the south. This historic pass has been in use since Roman times and still has several forts and other tourists attractions from the middle ages. This makes Innsbruck a perfect stop for lunch, short day trip or overnight stay for travelers passing through the city.
