We kicked off our day in Capri by walking from Marina Piccola to Marina Grande, taking in the breathtaking views and stopping at various sites along the way. If you’re not a fan of walking or climbing stairs, I’d recommend hopping in one of Capri’s unique taxis – they’re an experience in themselves!
We attempted to use Via Krupp, a historic switchback road built by German industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp in the early 20th century. However, it was closed during our visit, so we took the long way up to the famous Piazzetta. This charming square has been the heart of Capri’s social scene since ancient Roman times, and it’s the perfect spot for a bite to eat.
After refueling, we strolled leisurely through the scenic, winding roads leading to the Garden of Augustus. This lush garden offers the most stunning panoramic views of the Faraglioni Rocks – three towering limestone stacks rising majestically from the sea. It’s no wonder they’ve become Capri’s most iconic symbol!
Though we didn’t get the chance to visit the famous Blue Grotto due to less-than-sunny weather, we learned that sunlight plays a crucial role in creating the cave’s ethereal blue glow. On sunnier days, the sun’s rays pass through an underwater opening, illuminating the water in a dazzling display of blue light.
Instead, we embarked on a fantastic boat tour around Capri’s many caves, culminating in a breathtaking view of the Faraglioni Rocks up close. The experience was nothing short of magical, and it’s a memory that will stay with us forever.
