Amsterdam Airport – First Look

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (IATA Code: AMS) is the main international airport of the Netherlands and a major international airport hub for both European and transatlantic flights. By some estimates (2022-23), it is the world’s third busiest airport after Dubai and Atlanta.

Schiphol is the principal hub for Dutch airline KLM. Its also a major hub for the SkyTeam alliance that both Delta Airlines of USA and KLM of the Netherlands are part of. As such, there are frequent daily flights from major airports in east coast of USA such as Boston, New York, Washington DC, Atlanta and Miami to Amsterdam.

The airport is built as one large terminal (a single-terminal concept), split into three departure halls, which connect again once airside. Access to most gates and essential facilities such as lounges, luggage terminal, public transportation and rental car lots are well documented with directions.
