Port of Call – Palma de Mallorca, Spain

Palma de Mallorca is the capital and largest city in the island of Mallorca, Spain. Located in the western Mediterranean Sea, the city is a popular tourist destination and cruise port due to its close proximity to mainland Spain and nice climate.

Palma de Mallorca is about 4-hour ferry ride from Barcelona, Spain. Many cruise ships leave Barcelona in the evening to reach Mallorca the following early morning. This allows tourists opportunities for short excursions to the city or around the island of Mallorca.

In addition to guided excursions offered by cruise ships, visitors can do their own self-guided tours in and around the city. Both the cruise ships and passenger ferries docking at the port are served by taxis and buses for connection to the city. Rental cars are also an option if visitors plan to travel outside the city to other locations in Mallorca.

The Castell de Bellver offers visitors the best view of the bay of Palma and the entire city of Palma. Walking around the historic old town admiring the architecture is a great experience. There is also a scenic walking and jogging path along the ocean for several miles that can be enjoyed at leisure. Another popular tourist attraction are the caves just outside the city, accessible via boats from the city Marina.
