Day Trip ideas from Florence – Pisa, Italy

Florence is a historic city in the region of Tuscany, Italy. The city is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance with dozens of historic attractions featuring works of Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo , Vasari, Botticelli and many others. However, there are more historic attractions within hours of drive from Florence that are suitable for convenient day trips. In this blog we will briefly talk about such a planned day trip that includes the historic city of Pisa.

Pisa lies west of Florence, also within the Tuscany region of Italy. This historic city is famous for it’s leaning tower, and Galileo, the famous scientist.

You can take a train to Pisa from Florence, but a day trip can be planned, as shown in the above map, to Pisa and historic San Gimignano made famous by the poet Dante, and returning back to Florence by evening. This can be done by driving through the beautiful country side of Tuscany or taking a Guided Tour from Florence that can be booked online vis Expedia or Viator or similar tour portals.

The historic site of Pisa is a UNESCO world heritage site and is relatively small enough to be explored in 2-3 hours. Just keep in mind, if you climb the leaning tower, it may take a while to get up and come down.
