Wine Tasting in Ramona, CA

Earlier this year, I spent a week in Ramona, California, staying at a Hilton resort. Midweek, my daughter Simone joined me, and the two of us decided to explore something local and special — wine tasting in the hills of Ramona.

We found ourselves at Ramona Ranch Winery, tucked into the quiet hills. By the time we arrived, it was close to closing, but the host welcomed us warmly and gave us her full attention. We were the only ones there, which made it feel like a private tasting.

The atmosphere was relaxed — mountain views, the sun setting, and glasses of wine in hand. Simone and I laughed, took photos, and savored the moment. The host explained each pour, pairing the wine with the vineyard’s story.

What made it special wasn’t just the wine, but the quiet. No crowd, no rush. Just a mother and daughter sharing time together in a tucked-away California gem.

Tip for Travelers:

  • Call ahead and check hours — this place is worth the visit even close to closing time.
  • Bring a camera; the sunset over the hills is perfect.
  • Don’t expect big crowds or flashy tasting rooms; expect warmth, quiet, and real connection.

Travel doesn’t always mean far-away destinations. Sometimes, it’s about finding the right moment, in the right place, with the right company. For me, that evening in Ramona with Simone will stay close to my heart.
