A Boat Cruise from Riomaggiore in dreamy Cinque Terre

The Cinque Terre (meaning “Five Lands”) is a coastal area within Liguria, in the northwest of Italy. It lies in the west of La Spezia Province, and comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Vernazza is one of I Borghi più belli d’Italia (“The most beautiful villages of Italy”)

Riomaggiore, Liguria, Italy

A scheduled passenger ferry runs between Levanto and La Spezia, stopping at all of the main villages except Corniglia, which does not have a landing point, as it is not located on the coast. Monterosso and Riomaggiore are located at the two end of the 5 villages and are the most easily accessible by car or train. So taking a ferry from either of this town is the best option to navigate Cinque Terre by boat. In our case, we parked at Monterosso, use the train to go through each village and then took the ferry from Riomaggiore back to Monterosso. Enjoy the gallery below for a virtual tour of our boat trip across the 5 villages.
