Davos, Switzerland – First Look

Davos is an Alpine resort town  in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Davos is located on the river Landwasser, in the Rhaetian Alps, between the Plessur and Albula Ranges. Lake Davos, nestled by the Alpine Mountains, is a popular location for hiking and water sports.

Gaining prominence in the 19th century as a mountain health resort, Davos is perhaps best known today for hosting the World Economic Forum, an annual meeting of global political and corporate leaders. With a long history of winter sport, Davos also has one of Switzerland’s largest ski resorts, and hosts the international Spengler Cup ice hockey tournament each December.

Our stay at the Davos Hilton Garden Inn included a hearty Swiss dinner and breakfast that offered a variety of Swiss cheese.

A short drive from Davos is Fluela Pass which offers scenic roads, grand view of the Alps and connects to other popular destinations such as the Bernina Pass and St. Moritz. Watch the video at the end of this blog for a quick look at Fluela Pass.
